Mere Christianity
The first installment of the Dead Guy Book Club began October 1st. As a ministry, we have chosen to "do hard things" by reading classic books to strengthen our faith and stir our affections toward God. This month we are reading C.S. Lewis's classic book, Mere Christianity. I chose this book because it wonderfully demonstrates that our faith is both logical and consistent, over and against any belief system of the world. Christianity is not some blind leap of faith, but rather our faith is rooted and grounded in truth.
Here are some ways to benefit from this book:
1. As a family, read sections of the book together and discuss it over dinner.
2. Take notes as you read in the margins. How does what you're reading strengthen your faith? How could you share these truths with unbelievers?
3. Discuss the book with friends. Get a group together and go out for pizza for the purpose of digging deeper into what you are reading.
4. Consider writing a testimony of how God is using the book, Mere Christianity, in your life to encourage others.
