Truth matters: In our time, truth has come under attack. It is seen as relative, and it is constantly redefined. We are praying that God will awaken a hunger for truth, and a passion to see truth lived out. We are praying for the resurgence of truth in our families, our church, and in our world. We long for the eternal truth of God, as revealed in the Gospel, to hold prominence in our lives and produce activity for eternity.
Our call: We are called to glorify God through the parent/teen relationship. This call finds its sufficiency in God, its hope in the Gospel, and its home in the local church.
The Gospel: The Gospel is the only essential message in all of human history. It is objective and does not change. Each generation must continually allow the Gospel to shape their thinking and to influence how they live. Without constant application of this truth, the corporate witness of the church is marginalized and its message becomes distorted. Resurgence is our attempt to glorify God by applying the life-changing Gospel to the parent/teen relationship with the goal of recovering biblical emphasis in the following areas:
• Necessity of Scripture - We desperately need God's word. It is the authoritative, objective standard of all we do. We will pattern our lives after the instructions given to us and seek to apply and obey the Scriptures as they pertain to both young people and their parents.
• Power of the Gospel - This is the central message of our ministry. All real and lasting change comes from the power of the Gospel .
• The Family - The family is one of the primary means God uses to display the transforming effects of the Gospel. The family is a work of God's creation and is from his mind. It is a Gospel-centered and nurturing environment where training in godliness and life direction occurs.
• Centrality of the Church - That which is central to God's purpose in history should be primary in our lives as well. In Resurgence, we have a chance to impart a vision for the eternal purpose of God in the world and a chance to train the next generation for works of ministry in the church.
Do not fear, the Lord is with you. He is the One who can match speech with action.
Jesus teaches an important lesson on walking by faith and not by sight, even when the needs greatly outweigh the resources.
